Initially starting with a small number of mobile computers on the ground fuel side of the business, ATF Fuels were able to trial the FuelStar software and validate its effectiveness for their operation. Now, every vehicle in their fleet uses TouchStar technology as an integral part of their delivery processes. Orders and schedules are automatically uploaded from the back office to the drivers’ tablets through TouchStar technology, and the admin staff at the office receive automatic updates as each driver progresses through their deliveries. Calor Ireland are the leading supplier and distributor of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in Ireland, allowing customers who are located off the natural gas grid use LPG gas for power in their homes and businesses. The company is expert in LPG procurement and commissioning, bulk gas storage, cylinder filling and storage, LPG transport and delivery, installation and maintenance. Following an internal review, Calor Ireland identified a requirement to replace the legacy ePOD system. As a leading-edge technology developer, Touchstar already had many years of investment in offering Android-based mobile computing solutions as the natural successor to the Windows-based systems. Carnegie began its relationship with TouchStar in 2017 when they were looking for an improvement to their paper ticketing system. Carnegie Fuels adopted software from Fuelsoft as their back-end administration package and utilised Touchstar’s Fuelstar app and Windows-based Hawk devices to provide a real-time data feed from the vehicle fleet. Fuel tankers are large delivery vehicles carrying dangerous materials and so require a high-level of care to ensure that they are working to optimum standard. The law requires drivers of such vehicles to carry out daily walkaround checks, inspecting various aspects of the vehicle to ensure everything is working as it should be.
This daily walkaround check must be recorded, a task which is often seen as onerous and filled with paperwork. Frequently, issues arise with regards to poor handwriting preventing some of the information being read or paperwork getting lost or damaged in the cab.
