UK-based manufacturer of rugged mobile computers, TouchStar Technologies, is pleased to announce that Knights of Old, one of the UK’s leading provider of warehouse and distribution services, has selected TouchStar’s TS8000 handheld mobile computer as part of an IT upgrade for their warehouse picking operation.  

Established by William Knight back in 1865 with a horse and cart, Knights of Old have grown significantly within the warehouse and logistics sectors. With group services that include UK, Irish and European transport, logistics, export packing, and supply chain management, Knights of Old pride themselves on delivering exemplary logistics support to their customers.  

Operating from multiple depots, with over 300,000 sq ft of warehouse space, Knights of Old are continuously looking at ways to drive operational improvements. The most recent upgrade to their IT infrastructure was to support the picking operations with the rollout of new rugged mobile handhelds. Fully supported in the UK, TouchStar’s TS8000 handheld terminal was selected as the ideal hardware solution. With its rugged credentials, from high impact polycarbonate plastics, metal alloy chassis and the use of Sorbothane® rubber shock absorbers, the TS8000 provides advanced high-speed scanning and was perfect for the rugged picking environments Knights of Old operate within.
