Vehicle Telematics

Fuel accounts for about 70 per cent of truck operating costs, so it’s only common sense to monitor the fuel consumption of every vehicle in your fleet. However, if you are not also checking what effect individual drivers have on a vehicle’s fuel economy you could be missing an opportunity to cut fuel bills even more. Multiple parameters can be monitored and flagged to the driver via visual cues. Examples include;
  • Excessive engine idling

  • Harsh braking

  • Over-speeding on a downhill gradient.
With fuel monitoring in place, it becomes easy to identify under-performing drivers and to measure distribution costs versus customer profitability.

Additional advantages of telematics include;
  • Safety verification data

  • Vehicle condition monitoring

  • Maintenance-oriented data.
